Emma-Chapters 1 & 2

Hi everyone, and welcome to Lost in a Book’s first meeting!

I hope everyone was able to find “Emma” and read the first 2 chapters.  I have a confession:  I actually did not get “Emma” from the library until yesterday! Ack!  But, I did pick it up and read through chapters 1 and 2….I really enjoyed them.  What did you think?  Did you have a favorite part or quote?  We were introduced to several characters-each one very different.  Which character stood out to you most, and what are your thoughts on his/her attitude?

I’m eager to see your responses, so let the discussion begin!  Comment your responses below and let’s get started! :-)

First Meeting-Coming Soon!

Hi Everyone!

I'm getting excited about the book club!  Responses haven't been plentiful (yet!), but that's okay!  We're just getting started, but hopefully, others will come and join us!  Please spread the word among your book loving friends! :)

I am hoping to have our first meeting January 22, 2011 (next Saturday) at 1:45 PM (Eastern time).  Will this work for y'all?  Please let me know.  I want to (if at all possible) accomadate schedules and make this work for you! :)

In order to be able to fully appreciate the meeting, please pick up a copy of "Emma" (that's pretty much needed!:)) and read the first two chapters of the book.  If come across something in the chapters that you want to bring up, make a note of it!  Remember, the posts are only going to be the beginning of our conversations!  If you're able, try to bring your own observations to the meeting so you can share them and we can discuss them!

Hope everyone has a good week!

Emily

P.S: Please be sure to comment and let us know if the meeting date will work for you...also, please adjust the time so that it will work for your time zone! :)

Welcome

Welcome to Lost in a Book!  I am so excited that you’re here!

My name is Emily and I am Christian teenager.  I love reading…my favorite books are “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, by J.R.R Tolkien and Jane Austen’s masterful novel, “Pride and Prejudiced”.   Good books are wonderful by themselves, but when you have a group of friends to discuss these books with, they’re even better!

I’d like to invite you to join the Lost in a Book club. I know we’re going to have a great time and good discussions.  So if you’re interested in joining us, we’d love your company!

This is how it will work:  we would like to set up a specific "meeting" date (we'd like it to be every-other-week) where all club members will get on "Lost in a Book".  At our designated meeting time, we'll begin our meeting.  To get things going, there will be a few discussion questions.  We'll respond to these questions by commenting.  From there, conversation will hopefully take off in the comments.  We want to make this where you can participate, so please let us know what day and time frame would work best for you.  We're not going to be able to fit into everyone's schedule exactly, but we would like to make it as close as possible!  :-)

The first book we'll be reading/discussing is Emma by Jane Austen.  If you've never heard of her before, let me assure you that Jane Austen is excellent. Her books are long, but we're going to break the book up, so hopefully, it shan't be too intimidating.  You should be able to easily find a copy of Emma at your local library...

If you're interested in joining our group, please comment below.  Also, in your comment, please include day and time that you think would work well for you.

Emily

P.S: if you have any book suggestions for future reading projects, please let us know!
